In-laws got visa; mother’s visa rejected- only son

First of all, I would like to thank each and every member of this forum for their support.

Today my in-laws and my mother have attended the TELUGU interview 7.30 AM at CHENNAI Consulate. I took appointment for all of them at the same time.

It seems they called them sequence wise – 9, 10, 11 in the order of application.

My In-laws: My FIL is one of the partners of their family business along with their brothers. My MIL is house wife. They have 2 daughters & an unmarried son. One is in US(my wife), another daughter is in India, married. They are self-sponsored and they have 28 lakhs in bank. They carried the profile of the business with them.

The Interview went like this:
Both my in-laws went there.
VO: What do you do?
FIL: So and so business.
VO: How many people work for you?
FIL: ZZZ
VO: What is your income?
FIL: YYYY lakhs

Looking at my MIL
VO: How many kids u have?
FIL: 2 daughters and 1 son. Son is not married.
VO: Ok. You will get your passports within a week.

Mother: 3 daughters (all married) and I am the only son (last). Property close to 95 lakhs is on her name. She is self-sponsoring her self. She gets pension as my father was expired. She is 66. In the covering letter, we told them 3 of the grand children are dependents on her.

The interview went like this:

VO: How many kids you have?
M: 4 – 3 daughters and 1 son is in US
VO: Daughters are married?
M: Yes
VO: Who stays with you at your native town?
M: 3 grand children
VO: Definitely you are not going to come back!

Here VO did not even ask - how can you assure us that you will come back.

My mother started saying I get pension, rents etc. I have property and I am planning to construct house once I come back etc. I am not going to stay in US leaving all this property. but they did not heed to her.

Is there any way she can get her visa next time she applies?

She is genuinely not a potential immigrant. I read so much in this forum about ONLY SON parents not getting visa? Can we do something about it..After all having only son is not a curse.

Like showing a bond or something that they will come back definitely otherwise ready to take so and so punishment etc.....Just an Idea

If we raise an issue now, at least our brothers will not suffer like us in future.

Don't loose hope, just try again. Having pension is considered a strong point.It just seems that the VO was not in a good mood. There are many similar cases where they have tastes success in subsequent attempts.

what are the things that I need to take care:

Please tell me what are the things that I need to take care this time to get visa for my mother.

Lets say if I apply in another 3 months, what are the things that I can show cause as the changes from the first time?

It is a MYTH that parents with ONLY SON do not get the VISA. I am the ONLY SON (NO SIBLINGS) of my parents. They got the visitor visa everytime they went to the consulate. Once in 98 and the 2nd time in 2001.

Bottom Line, it is the applicant who has to convince the VO that they will NOT abondon their residence in their home countries and will by all means honor the intent of the type of VISA issued.

The 2nd thing that matters is how their IMMEDIATE RELATIVES attained their status in the U.S. Did they attain it through legitimate way or did they do COS from B-1/B-2, marriage to a U.S Citizen with the primary intention of getting a green card etc.

PRESENTATION matters a lot. If you display sign of nervousness / arrogance to the VO your visa will be denied. U need to present it as though getting the VISA is not a BIG deal...

With regard to re-application I would suggest that you wait atleast for 6 months, re-application too soon will only show signs that you are desperate..

My mother got her visa rejected the same at 9.45 am on march 2nd. The reason is only son. Here are the details:Telugu interview
How many kids you have: 2 daughters and one son
Whom are you visiting : son
(one daughter is prematured)
Where are you going to leave ur unhealthy daughter : at her grandma's place
when did your husband expire: 6 months back
they said you won't come back,you seem like a potential immigrant. SHe tried to convince them that I have so much of property and I have to come back..but became no use.
we are very depressed...please help
the stamp on passport is 214(b)
What can we do to show more ties in India.
She has a lot of property and money in bank on her name.
Please help...I am planning again to apply in sept 07.
